"Fabulous Rooms!"
Wasn't sure what to expect of a Bucharest hotel room so I was pleasantly surprised by the charm of this well maintained hotel. What the staff lacked in charm (albeit very efficient) was made up for by the rooms. We had a room on the fourth floor which was nicely proportioned with a balcony overlooking the main road out front. The beds were big and comfortable and the decor in keeping with the style of the hotel (possible 1930's style). What I loved most was the bathroom, we stayed here on two occasions and the first time we had a blue tiled bathroom with ample toiletries and the second time a pink one. The only negative was that the water quality appeared tainted by old pipes so make sure you take plenty of bottled water. The room, despite overlooking a main road was reasonably quiet with good sound proofing and is in a good location. There was just something special about this hotel and I am glad we chose it over the more modern and obviously popular Athenee Hilton located nearby. N.B the breakfast was nice also and they could make us pretty much whatever we wanted! The only word of warning is that if you want to take a taxi anywhere don't ask the hotel to arrange it as they will bring a car and charge a fixed rate i.e Lei 1million to go to airport wherein you should not have to pay more than Lei 400,000 to get to airport. You can hail a cab on the main street.

"Pretty nice hotel in central Bucharest"
We were booked at the Lido through our tour package on our way in and out of Bucharest so we had two different rooms. We were pleased with our first room, spacious, very clean, air conditioning, modern bathroom with nicer toiletries (shampoo and bath gel) and a hair dryer. On the way back we got an even larger 2 room suite with a couch, chairs and TV in one room and beds in another, a huge space for 2 people.
The location is very central, we could easily walk to many of the sights or metro transportation was close enough to walk to. Breakfast is included in the rate and is a typical Romanian/European breakfast with eggs, meat, cheese, cereal, juice, bread.
There is an outside pool but it wasn't filled, not sure if it was too early or if it's just not filled yet. It was warm enough to.
As with the previous review, we too found that having the hotel arrange a taxi was a ripoff. In our case they called for a taxi to the train station and the meter read a whopping 400,000 lei, $13 to go the very short distance between the two when it should of cost less than 100,000 lei. It's very hard to argue with someone at 5 am in a not so nice part of town. This is not uncommon though in Bucharest, it happened again to us at a different hotel.
I would definitely stay here again if the price was right, just watch out for those taxis!!!
